PETER MAX PARTNERS WITH MARINE MAMMAL CONSERVANCY TO AID REHABILITATION EFFORT OF BEACHED DOLPHINS

PALM BEACH, FL - March 4, 2005 - World-renowned artist and animal activist Peter Max announced today that he has partnered with Marine Mammal Conservancy ( MMC ) to raise money for the rescue and rehabilitation of more than 60 dolphins stranded in shallow waters in the Florida Keys. Max will donate the proceeds of ten commissioned portraits, at $30,000 a piece to MMC. In addition, for the month of March, Max will donate 100 percent of all proceeds, less shipping and handling, of signed and dedicated posters. Posters and details on the commissioned portraits are available at www.petermax.com.

"When this story made national news I heard that most dolphins that strand themselves don't survive, and that rehabilitation is extremely expensive, facilities are few, and there is limited funding,” Max said. "Volunteers are working around the clock to rescue the dolphins and they need our help."

The rough-tooth dolphins were found on flats and sandbars and in a nearby canal Wednesday, March 2, about a quarter mile off Marathon Key. MMC, the nonprofit, all-volunteer organization leading rescue efforts of the beached dolphins, relies 100 percent on monetary donations, corporate sponsorships and grants.

Max has been a long time friend of animals, creating and/or donating art for fundraising purposes to a wide scope of organizations, including The Fund For Animals, Humane USA, Southern Animal Foundation, North Shore Animal League, Animal Avengers, AnimalKind, ASPCA of New York, PETA, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Equine Advocates, Farm Sanctuary, Friends of Animals Mississippi, Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Animal Friends, Humane Society of New York, Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption, Orangutan Foundation International, Pet Adoption Fund, War Dog Memorial Commission and ASPCA Humane Expressions, among others.

Peter Max will be in South Florida March 10 through 12 with his "Colors of a Better World" exhibit, which features more than 300 pieces of Max's art, all available for acquisition. Max will make special appearances on Thursday, March 10th and Friday, March 11th at Wentworth Gallery in Palm Beach Gardens' Garden Mall, and Saturday, March 12th in Boca Raton's Town Center Mall Wentworth Gallery. Each appearance will be from 6-9 PM and is open to the public.
