Events, Training and Volunteer Opportunities

Marine Mammal Conservancy has several events each year, including volunteer training sessions, activities, and "FUN"raisers. We post them here for your perusal and choosing. Join in whenever, and wherever you wish.

We believe that education of the public is the first step in addressing the needs of marine mammals. The focus of our Education Program is to disseminate information about marine mammals, ecological concerns and ongoing efforts in rehabilitation to interested groups and the general public and to strengthen the Stranding Network, which responds to marine mammals in distress.

MMC offers training workshops and classes to volunteers, staff, other organizations, and federal and state agencies.  Through these classes we are able to provide stranded marine mammals better chances for survival in the first critical hours by increasing the number of people capable of responding to their initial and advanced treatment needs.

Our schedule is modified periodically.  We encourage volunteers to take as much training as possible. For more information about these classes, please contact us at info@marinemammalconservancy.org

Training

Marine Mammal Conservancy wishes to thank all who came out to participate in our Spring classes! We look forward to having you with us for future trainings.

Fabulous Fundraising Events for 2008:

Haunted House
October 24th to November 2nd, 2008

Yes, that's right folks, this year's calendar includes the return of our most popular event!!! This is MMC’s premier event and was an Upper Keys tradition until we lost our venue a few years ago. The Haunted House is back and will include all of the frightening rooms it had before. We have a new venue at MM 99 at the old fire station in Key Largo. The Haunted House will include rooms such as the Graveyard, Swamp, Witches Cave, Torture Chamber, Endless Hallway, Illusion Room, Morgue, Alien Encounter, Headhunters Alley, and Dracula’s Lair. It is several nights of entertainment for the entire family. Treats are provided for the kids. We’ll be having a barbecue for a donation on weekend nights.

Scavenger Hunt
Date To Be Announced

Pirates on the Water will be holding this event for MMC. Participants will pay an entry fee and select 15 of 20 possible items to collect and do throughout the upper keys in a set time period. Participants will be organized in teams of 3 to 4 people to accomplish their goal. The winning team will get a grand prize of $500.00. This event is a lot of fun, a barbecue will be ongoing as teams check in, raffles will be on-going and other prizes will be awarded to participants.

If you would like to help with some of these events, please contact us at 305-451-4774. Remember, all of our fundraising activities support the mission of MMC, allowing us to help marine mammals in need.
