About MMC
Who is the Marine Mammal Conservancy?
The Marine Mammal Conservancy is a non-profit 501(c)(3) IRS designated,
all volunteer organization with its primary operating facilities
located in the Upper Keys of Florida. The Corporation is organized
and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, and
educational purposes, including but not limited to the research, rescue, rehabilitation, release and/or retirement of marine mammals,
and to operate a facility which will serve as a "halfway house"
to bring marine mammals from unsuitable, artificial, or overcrowded
public display situations and/or stranding situations, and then to reintroduce
such marine mammals back into their natural environments; or, for
those unsuited to release, a quiet retirement.
The Marine Mammal
Conservancy in conjunction with other organizations has already
responded to over 150 marine mammals covering some 75 stranding events. These events allow the public to experience the
rehabilitation process first hand. MMC has helped train over 3500 public volunteers to help with local stranding events.
